| About Salt Lake City Waiter Think, for just a moment, of the eatery you frequent that has the most comfortable atmosphere, décor, and ambiance. Surely, your own home has to be the most comfortable, right? Of course. Eating out is great, but home will always be where the heart is. Most of us, however, will never have cooking skills which rival the Salt Lake Valley’s finest chefs—that is, after all, why they are chefs. We can try to recreate their dishes, but somehow (for most at least) our attempts at the Alfredo lemon sauce or mole poblano seem to end up missing a little, intangible something, and as for a dish such as Khoresh-e Geymeh Bademjan or Pad Preaw Wan, it’s doubtful we’d know where to even begin. Suppose, still worse, you were called upon to prepare Khoresh-e Geymeh Bademjan for the entire office, or if the demands of work make it such that you can’t leave your cubicle? Or still worse, to prepare Pad Preaw Wan in a Salt Lake hotel room? Thankfully, the Salt Lake valley has Salt Lake City Waiter to help us with our culinary woes. Our system is simple—you, armed with the SLC Waiter website, decide what you want from which restaurant. Place your order on our site, then sit back, and let us bring your food to you, no matter where you happen to be, no matter what your reason for staying there. SLC Waiter has been providing this unique service to Salt Lake Valley residents since the year 2000. Starting as an in-home business, delivering from a dozen restaurants, our service has expanded. Currently, our territory now covers all of Salt Lake County, and some of southern Davis County. Our customer base is growing as well, as more people use SLC Waiter for special occasions, catered events, or as a chance to relax after a long day. Some have even contacted us from out of state, hoping we can help arrange a surprise for in-state friends, or for family who find themselves unable to leave their homes. What can you expect when you order from Salt Lake City Waiter? Quite simply, you can expect to receive in the comfort of your own home (or your hotel room, or even office meeting room) your favorite dishes from your favorite restaurants, minus the crowds and you don’t have to find parking. Most importantly, you can expect to get it in a timely fashion. We at SLC Waiter endeavor to get your order to you as fast as is safely possible. Our delivery system and arrangement has been planned and structured to maximize speed, so our drivers do not need to take pointless risks in order to make their deliveries on time. Naturally, our vehicles are appropriately equipped to ensure your hot dishes come hot, and cold dishes come cold. Drivers also check all orders when they are retrieved to ensure you get what you ordered each and every time. Waiters, by their very nature, must be courteous and sociable, and even though we have a much longer trek from the kitchen to your table, our job is essentially the same, and thus our role is essentially the same. Nothing can sour a meal quite like a sour waiter. Professionalism is of the utmost importance to our drivers as they strive to please customers on two fronts—the home customers, and the restaurants, who make up an equally important variable in the SLC Waiter equation. We also take full responsibility for your order, and will field any issues, any at all, you may have with said order. After all, we are not simply a delivery team employed by a single restaurant—we are a totally independent company, who have offered our services to the restaurants in our catalogue. When you order with SLC Waiter, you are entirely in our capable hands. Please feel free to inform us of anything we can do to make your use of our service more pleasurable. So give us a try, and have an unrivaled dining experience—eating out in style without ever leaving your own home. About the SLC Waiter Fleet Improving the gas mileage of every car in the United States by 1 mile-per-gallon would, in one year, save more oil than could be pumped from Alaska’s National Arctic Wildlife Refuge. If mileage were improved by 5 miles-per-gallon in the nation’s vehicles, we could almost completely eliminate our dependence on foreign oil (a dependence whose price has started reaching far beyond mere money). Salt Lake City Waiter recognizes these facts. Thus, to lessen out impact on the environment, we have begun to phase out our conventional engine vehicle fleet in favor of lower emission cars. Currently, SLC Waiter employs two Honda Civic Hybrids and two Honda Civic Natural Gas powered cars (one is the featured image on this website), as part of our commitment to improving our community’s environment. Natural Gas cars run on essentially the same internal combustion engine used in conventional cars, though converted to (obviously) run on natural gas instead of gasoline. This may seem like a small change, but the results are drastic. Designated “Partial Zero Emissions Vehicles” by the California Air Resources Board (California, incidentally, has set some of the most stringent air quality standards in the country), Natural Gas cars are not entirely non-polluting, but the emission levels are sharply decreased—to be classified Partial Zero, a car must emit fewer gasses while driving than a conventional engine does while idling. A Natural Gas car emits 80% less Nitrous Oxide than a conventional engine (the same Nitrous Oxide which induces giggles as it kills our brains), 50% less Carbon Monoxide, and 25% less Carbon Dioxide, the world’s most pervasive and widespread greenhouse gas. Furthermore, natural gas is quite plentiful domestically, further reducing the importing of foreign oil. Hybrid cars are the next step, reaching the “Near Zero Emissions” designation for their cleanliness. While a Hybrid still uses gasoline, the demanding work of acceleration is assisted by the continuously recharging battery, thus reducing the toxic gasses emitted to almost nothing. The emissions of Near Zero cars must, by definition, be 98% lower than conventional engines at 2003 air quality standards. Thus, Hybrid cars rank among the cleanest cars on the road today. The cliché cynical refrain is “one individual cannot make a difference.” That’s not entirely untrue—one, or even four low emission vehicles do not cancel the damage done by one (certainly not four) SUVs. However, we at SLC Waiter realize that a thousand individuals can make a difference, and changes have to start somewhere. We are proud to be among the Salt Lake companies leading the change from a dirty, wasteful transportation infrastructure to a clean, sustainable one. |
